Attend the street festival Ö-Festen virtually

Discover Gothenburg Island Festival, the virtual space for Ö-Festen on Ringön, Gothenburg. The experience made its debut on the 28th of August 2023 as a one-week virtual festival. Visitors were invited to experience live streamed performances, artists talks, competitions and games — in short, an incredible virtual space for culture with 14 000 unique visitors from 67 countries during the first week of its debut. This initiative was part of Gothenburg’s 400 year celebration and Göteborgs Kulturkalas.

The virtual space was built using Hiber 3D, a game engine for the web. The company behind the engine is based in Gothenburg and the solution was developed in close collaboration.

The 3D space has been used to release music albums, listen to poetry, having a virtual ride in a Liseberg rollercoaster, visit the Koami Art Festival and listening to live music among many things.
